Bookkeeping involves the recording of your business sales, purchases, receipts and payments in a systematic way.
But there are no hard and fast rules about how your bookkeeping should be done.
A simple spreadsheet may be all you need to accurately record your business transactions.
Alternatively, dedicated accounting software may be more suitable. There are many software solutions available to use, some free and some that require a regular payment.
Take a look to the right to see what I can do to help with your bookkeeping.
This involves using the financial records produced by your bookkeeping process to prepare business accounts.
These can be relatively simple accounts produced for Tax Return purposes, or more formalised accounts required for filing at Companies House.
What Do you Need?
Do you only need a One-Off Bookkeeping Service to record your business transactions, or are you after a more Regular Bookkeeping Service every month or quarter?
Maybe you are looking for Financial Accounts to be prepared from your accounting records?
The One-Off Bookkeeping Service
This is usually most suited to businesses that will need accounts to be prepared for year-end tax return purposes, but do not need to submit regular VAT returns.
I can come and pick up your paperwork if you are in my area, or you could send me electronic and scanned versions of it all instead. I will record your transactions in bookkeeping software to enable accurate financial accounts to be prepared for use in your tax returns.
The Regular Bookkeeping Service
This service is more suitable for businesses that are already VAT registered, or will soon need to be.
You may already use specific accounting software, or I can help set you up on one of the various cloud-based alternatives; there are both free and paid-for types of software available, depending upon your needs.
I will record your transactions in the accounting software to enable accurate VAT Returns to be completed. Keeping one eye on your business tax, I also ensure that transactions are recorded in such a way as to make the completion of year-end tax returns quicker and easier.
Regular financial data and management reports can also be provided as required.
From your accounting records, you might only need a simple Profit and Loss account to be prepared for filing with your Personal or Partnership tax return.
Alternatively, I can prepare statutory accounts for filing with your Company tax return and at Companies House.
